Accommodations & Services
The lodge is simple but comfortable and beautiful. It is a floating lodge, constructed of local woods. It is utilized during the year as an ecotourism lodge primarily for birdwatching and wildlife viewing (Uakari lodge). It’s a local community base lodge run by the natives with support of their local institute. So it’s important to understand some differences in the lodging in comparison with Untamed Angling own lodges. We respect their decision to have the initiative of a local native management to empower the communities on this tourism activity.
It is fact noted as one of the top five-birdwatching areas in the Amazon. Pirarucu is a perfect destination for non-anglers, as well as anglers, as there are a good number of activities offered like bird safaris, jungle tracks with pro guides, and visit the local communities to see the lifestyle and village. The lodge has 10 floating cabins, each with two en suite rooms, 3 of which are refurbished to accommodate our angling guests a ceiling and tower fans . The main lodge building features a dining room, living area and kitchen.
Special Dietary requirements
Please let us know whether you have any kind of dietary restriction or food allergies (nuts, almonds, flours, etc.) so we can prepare.
Water
We strongly suggest not drinking water from the tap in any Brazilian Amazon city.Mineral water will always be available. Thermos of water will be in your room for brushing your teeth and rehydrating during the night. (The kitchen is locked and closed every evening after lights out)
Electricity
Electricity that will be available in the lodge is provided by solar panels -it is 110 volts- but with a two-pin plug (it is recommended to take plug adapters). The plugs are distributed in the rooms and in the main lounge of the inn. Due to the limited generation of solar panels in the bedrooms, if there is a need to charge many electronic devices, give preference to do so in the dining/living room lounge preferable during the day.
Guides Team:
Untamed Angling has designed a unique working platform for all its projects: a team formed by a professional and a native guide working together. The pro guide provides specific technical skills and the native guide intensive knowledge of the forest. Working together as a team allows them to enrich our guests’ fishing experience in a way that neither could achieve alonee) GratuitiesWe suggest a tip of approximately 10% of the package cost. Tips are split evenly among the guides and support staff. You do not need to leave any additional tips. Tips are left to the discretion of the angler. The head guide will collect the tips. Please bring cash $USD for the gratuities.
