Pirarucú Season 2024 | Fishing report week 03 September 20 to 26

Weather Conditions:

This week brought the best of Amazonian sunshine, with clear skies and temperatures averaging 30°C (86°F). Apart from one brief rain shower, the weather remained nearly perfect for the angling experience. The sun’s warmth set the stage for another incredible week at Pirarucu, where the world’s largest arapaimas roam.

River Conditions:

Water Level: The water levels reached an astonishingly low point—historically the lowest in the past 50 years. This unique condition made for challenging but rewarding fishing, revealing hidden areas of the reserve and concentrating the fish in tighter spaces.

Water Color: Slightly murky, which heightened the anticipation as anglers worked their strategies in pursuit of their next giant.

Fishing Summary:

Week 3 at Pirarucu Lodge brought a group of highly skilled anglers—self-dubbed “The Italian Fishing Mafia”—who turned this week into a masterclass of technique and persistence. The skill level displayed by our Italian friends, including the legendary angler and friend Paolo proved that Italy isn’t just famous for its cuisine—it’s home to some of the finest anglers. Paolo’s expertise with wiggle tail flies was unparalleled, as the arapaimas simply couldn’t resist. Each cast seemed to command the water, culminating in a week that demonstrated the unyielding determination and passion for landing the true giants of the Amazon.

Looking Ahead:

With the water levels at a record low, the upcoming weeks are sure to offer even more extraordinary opportunities for landing monster arapaimas.
