Weather Conditions

This week brought classic Amazon sunshine with clear skies every day, making for optimal fishing conditions. Temperatures averaged 30°C (86°F), creating the perfect atmosphere for exploring the Mamirauá Reserve and targeting its legendary fish.

Water Conditions

The water level continues to rise, and clarity is improving, setting up excellent conditions for sight fishing. The clean water made it easier to locate active arapaima, providing our anglers with thrilling opportunities for perfect casts and unforgettable battles.

Fishing Summary

This week, we had the pleasure of hosting an incredible group of anglers: 3 Americans, 2 Canadians, and 1 Australian. Together, they embraced the challenge of targeting the Amazon’s most iconic predator—the arapaima.

The exclusivity of Pirarucu Lodge was evident as anglers faced the thrill of casting to massive fish in one of the world’s most pristine environments. Every strike brought adrenaline and awe, reaffirming why this destination is on every fly angler’s bucket list.

Highlights of the Week

Steve’s Milestone Catches

Fishing with the legendary Steve was a true highlight this week. Using his own specially designed fly, he landed his 150th and 151st different fish species, marking a significant achievement in his angling journey. Watching his precision and technique inspired everyone on the water.

Josh’s Jungle Adventure

The week also brought some true Aussie spirit to the Amazon. Josh, the nephew of the famous “Mick Dundee,” brought his unique energy and skill to the jungle. Watching his fearless approach to fly fishing in the Amazon was as entertaining as it was impressive. Well done, mate!
